Available from August 2010, the collection titled 'Crystal Ballroom' was inspired by the late 70s/easly 80s Melbourne venue of the same name - a venue where a variety of sub-cultures co-habited under the one ramshackle roof. Easly-day goths, skinheads, hads mods and new-wave punks united in a cult-like music scene.
A night in the Crystal Ballroom was not for the faint-hearted; "its floral carpet was stained with beautiful excess and deep human misery..The Ballroom itself had a "sprung floor" which was some kind of desirable adjunt to dancing cha cha cha in days gone by, but extraordinary (and deeply scary in retrospect) when a full house of one thousand drunken people rose and fell on the sprung floor in unison, as if on a trampoline." (Producer Evan English recalls the glors days of the Crystal Ballroom).
AUTUMN WINTER 2010 - The Lamentations of Euchrid the Mute
This collection explores the narrative and themes behind Nick Cave's first novel: And the Ass Saw the Angel.
Euchrid Eucrow - outcast among outcasts. Born mute to a drunken mother
and a father who spends his days building vicious traps and his nights building
delicate towers of cards. Euchrid has a mind that seethes with words to express
his vision of the world around him.
The gloom and darkness in the narrative is reflected in the palette and details of the clothing, taking a nod towards the period and geography of the tale, whilst still retaining the label’s signature and forward direction. The use of fabrication such as oxford cloth, velvet, cotton gauze, bamboo and alpaca are direct references to the tone and garb in the novel - and neckwear like the texan cravat and floppy bow tie are given a new lease
of life and relevance in today's wardrobe.
